June 2, 2008 - UPDATE
The data center's DNS servers are still non-functional at this time. Our private DNS servers had previously used these as query points, which caused all outbound emails to be delayed. We have switched resolvers, and email appears to be flowing smoothly on all servers.
As far as we can tell, all services are fully functional on our servers. We are currently checking all database files for consistency, and expect that this will complete within the next few hours. If you are experiencing any issues with your site, please contact support.
While our servers are fully functional, there may be some latency issues with the network as a result of the damage. The data center staff are working around the clock to bring the entire data center to full operation. Right now, only 2/3 of the nearly 9,000 servers affected by this outage are up and running. Luckily, all of our servers were on the second floor and were among the first brought back online. The DC staff is concentrating on bringing those remaining servers online, and will then start troubleshooting network latency.

At
approximately 4:55PM CDT on Saturday, May 31, an explosion
in an electrical room at our Houston data center disabled
operations at that location. Three walls of the electrical
equipment room on the first floor blew several feet from
their original position, and the underground cabling
that powers the first floor was destroyed.
Although
our data centers do employ backup power generators,
because of the scope of the damage the fire personel
on site ordered the backup generators to be powered
down, blacking out the entire data center until approximately
2AM CDT June 2.
At
this time, all of our servers, which were located
on the
second floor and unaffected by the power cabling
damage on the first floor, are back online and functional.
Any email sent during the outage should, by standards,
be delivered, however it may be delayed.
We
apologize for any inconvenience this outage has caused.
We are looking into procedures that will mitigate
downtime in the event of a similar experience.
May

Starting May 20, 2007 all sites
currently hosted on server C001 will be migrated to
another server to allow for hardware upgrades. Please
note that we will be performing the migrations during
off-hours to minimize any noticeable downtime for your
visitors. These upgrades will significantly improve
site responsiveness on this server.

We are no longer offering shell
accounts for MUD/MUSH hosting. Exisiting customers will
remain, however we will not offer these types of accounts
for new subscribers. We're sorry for the inconvenience,
however the amount of fraud surrounding these types
of accounts is astronomical compared to typical hosting
plans.
